Todays Work On My Quilt

This is what I’ve been doing for the past 8 &1/2 hours:) I started early this morning by finishing up the blocks to put the quilt together, then putting all the blocks together. I still have to do the edging that will (I hope) set it all off. One is a mottled maroon and the other is a green & marron batik that matches the maroon batik in the quilt itself. I hope to have it done and ready to quilt sometime this week. It’s going to be a christmas gift for a very very dear friend:)

Amy’s Baby Doll Blanket

About a year and a half ago (before she was born) I made Amy 5 baby quilts. When I shipped them to her mom, UPS left them on the doorstep and they were stolen:( I insured them, but UPS said they had met their obligation and wouldn’t cover the loss…so needless to say I won’t use UPS any longer. Anyway, I had these 4 blocks left so I made Amy a doll blanket out of them. She’s all ready at the age where she covers her “babies” up to “keep them warm: 🙂 So she’ll get to enjoy this one anyway.

It’s Amazing what you find in baskets!

It’s amazing what you find hidden in baskets when you start digging:) I found this quilt I started a couple of years ago and had totally fogotten about! It’s a little difficult to lay it out and photograph it when you’ve got two dogs trying to help! lol Woohoo I think I’m going to start back on it and maybe get it finished in time for the holidays:)

Illinois Star Quilt

I posted the wrong photo the first time so I’m trying this again. This is the Illinois Star quilt I started a couple of years ago at a Quilting Retreat in Montana. My sisters Quilting Guild held it at Camp Make A Dream and it was an amazing experience. I got to see so many beautiful beautiful works in progress. This is my first attempt at paper piecing and although it’s not difficult, this one is very time consuming. I had no comprehension when I began that the star had about 110 points in each star! So I figure by the time I’m 70 I might, just might have it done. lol By then Matthew will be at an age that he should be able to take care of it and it will go to him. Then again, after all the work I may just keep it. lol Who knows? Time will tell. lol

This I Just Had To Share

This one I just had to share with you:) I’m making some baby blankets for a new member of our family. I laid the blankie down on the couch, where I was working, to check my emails. When I looked over Taz had burrowed into the blanket and was fast asleep. All you could see of him was his little head. You see, he thinks anything, pillows, blankets, towels, folded clothes, you name it, that are on the couch is fair game. They belong to him and he digs, twists literally shapes whatever it is to fit HIM! So he had decided the baby’s blanket belonged to him:)

A Few of The Kids Quilts

Here’s a few of the quilts I’ve made for my grandkids, although the pink one went to The Linus Project. I was really tickled when Claire (Project Coordinator) sent me a note saying that the last 4 quilts I sent were going to go to the University of CA at Davis Hospital for the children there. So many children there in need of comfort.
